Vivian Maxine Alma, 96, died on April 9, 2019 at her daughter's home in Monticello, IN.

She was born on December 4, 1922 near Guelph, ND to the late Harry Lee Maddock and Eliza Myrtle (Young) Maddock. On April 12, 1942 at the Burnettsville Baptist Church Parsonage, she married John W. Alma; he passed away on December 24, 1994.

Vivian had lived south of Idaville, IN where she had lived for over eighty years before moving to her daughter and son-in-law's home three years ago. She was an active member of the Idaville Church of God and had helped cook and serve numerous funeral dinners at the church. Vivian had a very strong faith in her Lord and Savior. Throughout her life she held many jobs; secretary, former Bryan Manufacturing, Avon Lady, Newspaper Delivery, Custodian at Eastlawn Elementary School, and Homemaker. Vivian volunteered for many years at Eastlawn Elementary assisting students with reading. She was an avid reader and writer, especially long letters to family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and crocheting. Vivian had lived an amazing life, from being born and raised on the prairie in North Dakota, like "Laura Ingles". She had lived through the dust bowl, depression, World War II, and sending men to the moon. The best and most amazing thing is Vivian wrote everything down and made a book of her life story and history for her family. We can all only imagine all the life experiences and changes Vivian, lived and experienced. Vivian loved and cherished all of her time with all her family.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law; two sons; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; 14 step-great-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-great-grandson.

In addition to her parents and husband, Vivian was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Joe Alma; daughter-in-law, Karen (Lynch) Alma; two grandsons, Brian James Alma and Jeffrey John Alma; and seven siblings, Theta Marie Jensen, Wilbur Jay Maddock, Logan Wayne Maddock, Georgia Rae Jameson, James Donald Maddock, Kenton Paul Maddock and Kenneth Byron Maddock.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 PM on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home in Monticello. Funeral service will be on Monday, April 15, 2019, also at the funeral home. Rev. Paul Scott of First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will take place at Davis Cemetery in Burnettsville.
