Samuel Gauldin

Samuel had been ill with mental health issues and bronchial pneumonia for 2 weeks. He passed away at Logansport State Hospital where he had resided as a patient for many years. (as early as the 1920 census). His WWI draft registration lists him as Sam Abna Gauldin with closet relative being Lucy Gauldin. He was a farm laborer, working for James 'Omar' Cole; former White House staff member to Harry S. Truman and who was the grandfather of infamous "Cole Porter" and also built the historic Cole House in Peru. Sam and Lucy were living on 11 St, Peru. There is an infant; Samuel Manuel Gauldin death cert listing his parents as Samuel Gauldin and Lucy Aldredge, both born in Virginia. Sam married Lucy in 1913 in New Jersey. They had 3 other children; Raleigh Howard, Carl Richard and Josephine. The boys had been living with their maternal grandparents in the 1920 census in Peru; Asa and Lucy Aldredge. Lucy had remarried Warren Gross and all 3 children appear in their 1930 census in Ohio.
