Shirley Evangeline Alexander was born in Puyallup, Washington, in 1924. She was the oldest of three daughters and the third child of Clarence M. and Ruth (Jennings) Alexander. Shirley attended Puyallup High School, where she majored in commercial and minored in dramatics. She graduated in 1942 and moved to California, where she lived for 20 years. At the time of her death, Shirley had been employed for 8 years as a private secretary for the James White Oil Distributing Company of Ontario, California. Shirley died in Ontario in 1963 at the age of 38 and was interred in the Sumner Cemetery in Washington.
