Keith William Heffernan, 12, Kokomo, was gathered into the arms of his heavenly Father at 4 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2006, from his home, with his family at his side. He was born Jan. 10, 1994, in Indianapolis, the son of Francis M. "Skip" and Barbara A. (Hanshew) Heffernan.

Keith had been a student at Pettit Park Elementary School and was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.

He is survived by his parents, Skip and Barbara Heffernan, Kokomo; two brothers, Michael Heffernan and twin John Heffernan, both at home; his maternal grandparents, Bob and Shirley Hanshew, Danese, W.Va.; paternal grandparents, Frank and Pat Heffernan, Farmingville, N.Y., and Jo and Ray Rothaug, East Islip, N.Y.; 11 aunts and uncles and their spouses, Bob and Sue Hanshew, Linden, Va., Edie Dolan, Mt. Sinai, N.Y., Willy and Maggie Hanshew, Lakeland, Fla., Diana and Rick Barrett, Riverview, Fla., James and Jamie Hanshew, Fort Leavenworth, Kan., Joy and Tom Folie, Farmington, Minn., Kelly and Jay Bartholomew, Patchogue, N.Y., Jon and Chris Heffernan, Middle Island, N.Y., Dave and Michele Fritzsche, Jamestown, N.C., Terri and Rob Reynolds, Hicksville, N.Y., and Rob and Liz Heffernan, Port Orange, Fla.; godparents, Billy and Arlene Meier, Patchogue, N.Y., and special friends, Phil and Beth Notaro, Kokomo. Keith was preceded in death by his uncle, John Hanshew, and his maternal grandmother, Grace Hanshew.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 S. 200 West, Kokomo, with the Rev. Frs. Dennis J. O'Keeffe, Brian M. Doerr and Raymond E. Alaname as celebrants. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends are invited to call one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church and from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home - Grecu Chapel, 414 W. Jefferson St., where a scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Children's Wish Fund, 6435 Castleway West Dr., Suite 130, Indianapolis, IN 46250, and/or to the charity of the donor's choice.
