Margaret “Peggy” Ann Ezdebski, RN, of Ludington, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Palm Sunday, April 14, 2019, surrounded by her loving family at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. She was 93 years old.

Margaret “Peggy” Ann Charette was born on Nov. 29, 1925, in Ludington to William and Margaret Charette. Upon the untimely death of her parents, she and her brother, Bill, were adopted and raised by their bachelor uncle, Albert “Bub” Furlong, until they were separated during World War II.

She graduated from St. Simon’s High School, class of 1943, and entered Mercy Central School of Nursing under the WWII U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps and graduated in 1945 as a Registered Nurse. Upon her graduation from nursing school she was employed by Paulina Stearns Hospital, later Memorial Medical Center for over 30 years serving in a variety of positions including Obstetrics and later as a Nursing Supervisor. It was her honor to help deliver many of Ludington’s newborns into the world.

She married William “Bill” J. Ezdebski on Jan. 3, 1952, at St. Simon’s Church of Ludington; he preceded her in death after 47 years of marriage.

She was a lifelong member of St. Simon’s Catholic Church. She was active in the American Red Cross and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was an avid reader, specifically mystery novels, enjoyed shopping, going out to lunch, bingo, trips to Las Vegas, watching Detroit Pistons basketball and Notre Dame football. Spending summer picnics, holidays and birthdays with family were the times she enjoyed the most.

In addition to her husband, parents and uncle, Peggy is preceded in death by her only brother, Medal of Honor Recipient Senior Master Chief William R. Charette, as well as numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

A visitation will be held Monday, April 22, 2019, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington with a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Simon Catholic Church, with Rev.
