Abilene - Luz Maria Gomez, 16, died Friday, June 8, 2007, at her residence in Abilene.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God officiated by Rev. Jared Owens. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. The rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was born in Abilene, Texas on March 1, 1991. Luz was a sophomore at Eagle Charter School, and a member of First Assembly of God in Abilene. She was always happy and friendly.
Her mother, Maria Del Socorro Miranda, and three grandparents preceded her in death.
Survivors include her father, Jose Gomez and wife, Otilia, of Abilene; six sisters, Silvia Carrillo, Augustina Gomez and Maria J. Gomez all of Abilene, and Claudia Gomez, Alma Gomez and Maira Gomez all of Mexico; three brothers, Jose Alfonso Gomez, Jorge Gomez, and Eduardo Gomez all of Mexico; and one grandmother, Augustina Gomez of San Antonio.
