Coughlin High School, Class of 1944, the Nesbitt Memorial Hospital Nursing School, Class of 1947, and the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Class of 1965. She was a public health nurse for the Pennsylvania Department of Health, starting in 1950, and became public health nursing director in 1973 in Luzerne and Wyoming counties until her retirement in June 1983. She was married to William J. Gallagher for 43 years.
