"Died, at his residence in Civil Bend on Friday, February 5, 1897, Parker Pond, aged 82 years. Thus another old settler has gone from our midst - another familiar face is hidden from our view. Parker Pond was born in Franklin county, NY, December 27, 1814. He was married in Sheboygann county, Wisc., in 1850 to Lucinda Dinwidde. They came to this county in November 1869. Mrs. Pond died in the year 1874. Ten children, five sons and five daughters, forty-two grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive him."
