ST. GEORGE, UT -- Faye S. Dowse passed away December 26, 2004 in St. George, Utah. She was born on June 21, 1916 in Axtel, San Pete County, Utah to Mads Peter Sorensen, Jr. and Josephine Carlsen Sorensen. She married Edward L. Dowse on July 25, 1936 in Ogden, Utah.

During WWII she worked at Tooele Ordinance Depot testing ammunition where she was awarded a sharp shooters medal. She was the only woman on the firing line. After the war she worked at Hillfield for a number of years. She then decided to turn her and her husband's hobby into a lapidary supply and rock shop in Salt Lake City. They had one of the largest shops in the inter mountian region. After her husband died in 1987 she moved to St. George, Utah.

She is survived by three nephews and eight nieces who all loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters, Hazel Jean Jensen; Grace Josephine Bringman, Jennetta Brimhall and Erma Eanes; her brothers, Gilbert Mads Sorensen, Ivan Sorensen and Kenneth Sorensen.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 30, 2004, 11 a.m., Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 300 W. St. George Blvd. Visitation will be held Thursday, 10-10:30 a.m., prior to the services at the mortuary. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary (435) 673-4221. Condolences may be send through the Metcalf Web site at www.metcalfmortuary.com.
