Ruth Anne Moede, age 86, of New Holstein, died on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at her home. She was born November 8, 1926 in New Holstein, daughter of the late Harry & Caroline (Graef) Gierke.

Ruth Anne attended New Holstein Public Schools, graduating in 1944. Ruth Anne married Denver Moede on April 17, 1948 at St. John Evangelical & Reformed Church in New Holstein.

She had been employed by Hart-Carter Co, later known as Tecumseh, in the Payroll Department. At the age of 41, Ruth went back to Manitowoc Teachers College graduating in 1969, and then enrolled at Silver Lake College and graduated with a BS Degree in 1976. Ruth was employed by the Hilbert Board of Education as an Elementary Teacher where she taught for 20 years before retiring in 1990. Following her retirement, she helped her husband and son on the family mink ranch.

With the exception of 8-9 years, she was a lifelong member of St. John United Church of Christ in New Holstein where she was a lay reader, greeter, usher, belonged to the Women's Fellowship, served on the church council, and volunteered time as a Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Calumet County Retired Teachers Association.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 65 years: Denver; 3 daughters: Susan (Ken) Wolfe of Seattle, WA, Beverly Moede and her special friend Barbara Zee of Seattle, WA, Barbara (Eugene Dvorachek) Moede of Manitowoc; 4 sons: Robert (Christine) Moede of New Holstein, Edward (Mary) Moede of New Holstein, Phillip (Debbie) Moede of Hilbert, Tom Moede of New Holstein; 7 grandchildren: Adam (Michelle) Dembsky of Seattle, WA, Michael (Leanne) Moede of Fitchburg, Amanda Moede of Appleton, Jason Moede of Neenah, Shawn (Erin) Moede of Cedarburg, Jennifer Moede of Manitowoc, Kimberly (Corey) Krueger of Manitowoc; 8 great-grandchildren: Claire, Elsa & Vincent Moede, Helena Dembsky, Travis Schmitt, Quinn Moede, Emma & Brody Krueger; 5 step-grandchildren: Randy Krerowitz of Hilbert, Sherry (Jeff) Hansen of Whitelaw, Gene Dvorachek of Oshkosh, Allison (Martin) Speak, Dan (Amy) Wolfe of Seattle, WA, 10 step-great-grandchildren: Ashley Talcott, Mitchell Wolfe, Kyle, Aubrey, Devin & Hannah Hansen, Kerry Dvorachek, Sage & Grace Speak, Isobel Wolfe; and 2 sisters-in-law: Florence Moede of Reedsville and Evangeline Andrews of Lake Havasu, AZ. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 brothers-in-law: Ralph Moede & Elmer Andrews.

Funeral service will be at 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at St. John UCC (2111 Church St.) in New Holstein with the Rev. James Werner officiating. Friends may call at the church from 4:00 pm until 6:45 pm on Thursday, September 26, 2013.
