He was born April 26, 1944, in Fond du Lac County, township of Marshfield, the son of the late Ervin and Lorraine Halbach Schmitz.
Ken attended St. Ann Grade School in St. Anna and Elkhart Lake High School. On Oct. 16, 1971, he married Miss Scholz at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Kloten. The couple lived in the Town of New Holstein.
Ken was employed at Tecumseh Products in New Holstein the past 40 years. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, St. Anna.
Ken had a wealth of knowledge on automobiles and old tractors. He enjoyed his vacation trips by train and auto across the country. He further enjoyed reading about the world around him and watching NASCAR and RFD-TV. Ken enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, gardening and especially caring for his flowers. Ken was a devoted husband, a loving father and his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, one daughter, one son, and two grandchildren. He is further survived by six brothers, six sisters, and several brothers- and sisters-in-law as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Tony Ramminger; one nephew, Brad Schmitz; his father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Mildred Scholz.
Funeral mass will be held on Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Entombment will take place at Garden of Peace Mausoleum in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Sheboygan.
