Lester J. Dassey, age 92, a resident of the Hamilton Memorial Home, Two Rivers, died early Thursday morning, September 21, 2000, at the home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2000, at Emanuel United Methodist Church, Two Rivers. Rev. Roberta Thomson will officiate at the service, with burial to follow at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, town of Kossuth.
He was born May 24, 1908, in Two Rivers, son of the late Frank and Mabel LaFond Dassey. On November 19, 1931, he was married to Eleanor A. Krueger. Lester was employed with Hamilton Mfg. Co. for 42 years, retiring in 1971. He was a long time member of Emanuel United Methodist Church and the Hamilton Good Fellowship Club. Lester enjoyed hunting, fishing and just being in the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; one son and daughter-in-law, Neil and LaVerne Dassey, Mishicot; one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and James Damman, Manitowoc; seven grandchildren, Tim and John Dassey, Kathy (Jim) Koch, Peggy (Phil) Dufek, Lynn (Chad) Lesperance, Suzanne (Brian) Schermetzler, Tom (Kristine) Damman; 11 great grandchildren, Tania and Kristopher Huycke, Heather and Kimberly Dufek, Nicole and Brandon Lesperance, Jacob and Arriana Schermetzler, Justin, Elise and Bryce Damman, Many niece, nephews, other relatives and friends also survived. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Darwin and Clyde Dassey and three sisters, Celestine Wimmer, Charlotte Bonk and Beatrice Dreher.
Friends may call at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, from 5-8 p.m. Friday (TONIGHT) and after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, at the church until the time of service at 10:30 a.m.
Memorials may be made to Emanuel United Methodist Church or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc.
