Roland "Rollie" Victor Dax Sr., age 77, of 2135 32nd St., Two Rivers, died peacefully Saturday afternoon, Dec. 12, 2009 at Aurora BayCare Hospital, Green Bay, surrounded by his family.

Rollie was born in Kewaunee on March 22, 1932, son of the late Herman and Mabel (Mahalick) Dax, growing up in Kewaunee. Rollie married Virgiely Roberts on Oct. 9, 1954. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year. Rollie enlisted in the United States Navy serving our country from 1950 until 1954, aboard the aircraft carrier USS Siboney in the Atlantic Ocean. Rollie worked at Hamilton Manufacturing, Two Rivers, for 35 years, retiring in 1990. He enjoyed golf, being outdoors, and keeping active. Rollie was a big supporter of many high school sporting events.

Rollie is survived by his loving wife of 55 years: Virgiely, Two Rivers; three sons and two daughters-in-law: Roland Dax, Necedah, Wis., Bryan and Denise Dax, Two Rivers, and Keith and Michelle Dax, Two Rivers; eight daughters and four sons-in-law: Debbie and Mike Lamandri, Fla, Diana Dax, Texas, Cindy Walters, Two Rivers, Laure and Randy Nickels, Fla., Sandy and Tim Broderick, Fla, Jolene and David Kavoosi, Milwaukee, Terri Dax, Two Rivers, and Brenda Turner, Milwaukee; 30 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters-in-law: Marvin (Clair) Dax, Two Rivers, Andy Dax, Fla., Leon (LaVerne) Dax, Kewaunee, and David Dax, Fla.; and two sisters: Audrey Erickson, Milwaukee, and Marlene Baker, Ariz. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Rollie was preceded in death by one daughter: Mary Rathsack; three brothers: Earl, Herman Jr., an infant brother Donlyn; and two sisters: Estelle Meyers and Mabel Dax.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Memorial Mass will be Rev. William O'Brien. Military rites will be accorded by the Two Rivers VFW and American Legion posts. Rollie has been cremated at All-Care Cremation Center, Two Rivers, and will be laid to rest at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Kossuth, at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.

The Klein & Stangel Funeral Home and All-Care Cremation Center, Two Rivers, is assisting the Dax family with funeral arrangements.
