William Harvey Boone of Chanute, Kansas passed away June 11, 2014 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born May 9, 1934 in Akron, Ohio. He was son of Maize Izetta Boone-Wylie and James Elmo Boone. Family and friends were blessed to be able celebrate his 80th birthday with him this past May.

Bill spent his high school years at Wichita East and went to Wichita State University after high school. He was a graduate of Kansas School of Banking. Bill and his family lived in Eldorado, KS for eight years, where he was previously employed by the Ronald Rice Family Emprise of Eldorado and Salina, KS. He was also previously employed by the First National Bank of Salina, KS. In 1969, Bill and his family moved to Chanute where he served in many capacities at the Bank of Commerce. He was the Director, Trust Officer and Bank President until 1984. He was involved in many activities and served on the Board of Directors at the Chanute Library, Chanute Country Club, Neosho Memorial Hospital and as a Chanute City Commissioner.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Evelyn M. Boone, four children; Andrea Keiningham and husband Rick of Savonburg, KS; Sandra Patton of Tulsa, OK; Clark Boone of Chanute, KS; and Lesa Boerger and husband Alan of Manhattan, KS; Ten grandchildren; many great grandchildren, great-nieces and nephews; a brother Dean Boone and wife Nancy of Salina, KS; a niece Judy Umschied and husband Issadore of Wichita, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents Maize and James and a sister Virginia Klett.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 14, 2014 from 1-3 pm at the Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel in Chanute.

Memorials in his name may be made to the American Lung Association or the National Kidney Foundation and may be left with the funeral home.

Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
