He married Oleah Torgerson on 3 Jan 1900 in Bryon, MN at the East St Olaf Church. He worked on the farm, in a family restaurant, as a machinist and as an employment agent.

The original family name in the Oppland, Norway was "Gutormson" and they worked on farm called Boe. Upon coming to the USA and settling in Iowa, the family wanted a more American name, to blend in. So sometime in the 1880's or so, the entire family changed the family name to Boe.
