Percy Crumpler was born on February 7, 1887 in White Bluff, Tennessee, the son of Franklin Floyd "Frank" Crumpler (1866–1920) and Annie (Kerr) Crumpler (1867–1909).

He was married 1st on September 15, 1907 in Cheatham County to Gertie Dunn (1888–1915), the daughter of William Thomas Dunn (1857–1918) and Alice Gray (Riggan) Dunn (1856–1933). Percy was married 2nd in 1918 in Nashville to Tennie Mae Reagin (1899–1994), the daughter of Thomas Smith Reagin (1863-1948) and Cora Lee (Grant) Reagin (1872-1923).

A self-employed painter and decorator living at 1228 Warner Avenue in Nashville, Percy was 64 years old and married when he died of far-advanced pulmonary TB on June 9, 1951 at Davidson County Tuberculosis Hospital. Burial was two days later in Spring Hill Cemetery, Madison {city, not county}.
