Cass County recorded its 10th traffic fatality of the year
•Thursday with the death of Homer C. Angle, 75, of Rt. 5, Logansport.
Angle was killed shortly after 3 p.m. when the farm tractor he was driving veered off a county road, ran up an embankment and flipped over on him, according to investigating officers.
The accident occurred on County Road 525 East, one mile
north and five miles east of Logansport, police said.
Cass County Coroner Manfred Wolf, following an autopsy conducted Friday morning, ruled Angle's death was due to a
crushed chest.
Investigating officers said Angle was driving a large tractor and plow north on the gravel road when for some unknown reason,, he lost control of the tractor, swerving into a ditch on the west side of the road.
The tractor started up a steep 12-foot embankment and flipped over backwards, pinning Angle under, the steering column, officers said.
Investigating officers included State Trooper Richard Keyes,
Sheriff Rex Harris, and Deputies Frank Johnson and .Jerry
Arnold, and Coroner Wolf.
Angle, a retired farmer, was_born April 26, 1895, m Cass
County, the son of Benjamin L and Irene Boone Angle.: He was
a member of the German Baptist Church, Hoover.
His marriage was March 18,1915, in Clay Township to the
former, Ethel Louthain, who survives.
Surviving with the wife are two sons, Gene, Rt.- 5; and Melvin V., Speedway; one daughter, Mrs. Freida Sisson, -Rt. A;five brothers, Clinton, Santa Ana, Calif.; Willis and- Charles,Covington, Ohio; Irvin, Flora;and Harold, Delphi; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. One son, one daughter, one brother and two sisters preceded him in.death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at
Fisher Funeral Home -with L.D. Wolf and the Rev. Gary
Evans officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday ....
