Fort Bend Herald, May 8, 2019:

Doris May (Carroll) Boyd, a resident of Rosenberg, Texas for 60 years, passed away at home with her loving husband and children by her side. She was 89. Doris was born April 24, 1930 in Shallowater, Texas to Dovie Lee and Etta Lillian Carroll. She married Bill Boyd on January 31, 1948.

Doris was a graduate of Forreston High School and attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Fort Worth, Texas. Doris' love of caring for others kept her involved in various areas of nursing. Her exceptional bookkeeping skills enabled her to provide those services to numerous clients. She was also employed in several secretarial positions.

Bill and Doris lived in Waxahachie, Texas and Rosenberg, Texas. Doris faithfully cheered on the Houston Astros, enjoyed God's beauty through many family travels and adventures, and had an amazing love for people which was evidenced by her many friends. She loved her family and enjoyed cooking her delicious pecan pies for them.

As a teenager, Doris accepted Christ as her Savior at South Prong Baptist Church in Waxachaxie, Texas. That decision became the foundation upon which she, along with husband, Bill, built a strong, seventy-one year marriage. Together, they served Christ and family.

Doris is survived by husband, Bill B. Boyd; son Billy C. Boyd and wife, Deborah, of Bedias, Texas; and daughter, Barbara L. Kettler of Richmond; grandchildren, Brandon Lee Boyd and wife, Allison, of Cleveland, Texas, and Brian Mitchell Boyd of Willis, Texas; and great-grandchild, Brantley Lee Boyd of Cleveland, Texas; brother, John Hardy Carroll of Waxahachie, Texas; and sisters, Arlene Carroll Winningham of Waxahachie, Texas, and Mary Bridges of Waxahachie, Texas; other nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Doris was preceded in death by siblings, Wayne Montgomery Carroll of Chapman Ranch, Texas, and Stacy Lee Carroll of Waxahachie, Texas.
