James Newton Bruner, 82 of Kerens, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 at his residence.
James was born July 23, 1933 to Vernon D. and Agnes Williamson Bruner of Kerens.
He graduated from Kerens High School in 1950 and from Baylor University in 1956, having excelled in his studies in piano and drama.
He received a commission in the United States Air Force and was stationed in France where he managed a large officer's club for his fellow airmen. After his discharge, he returned to Dallas to continue his studies in theater under Paul Baker.
He then moved to California where he earned his master's degree at UCLA.
After a career of film making he retired in Kerens.
James was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Edward Bruner, his niece, Sherri Bruner and nephew, Scotty Clay.
He is survived by his daughter, Anne Bruner Bremner of Los Angeles; two granddaughters, Diana and Laura Stern of Los Angeles; his aunt, Jewell Hutson of Kerens; his brother Dwain Bruner and wife Carolyn of Stephenville; his sister-in-law Linda S. Bruner of Corsicana; nephews Charles Bruner of Richardson and Greg Bruner of Stephenville; nieces Gwyn Bruner Schneck of Dublin and Cindy Bruner Clay of Hillsboro and many cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Paschal Funeral Home.
Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. David LeFlore officiating.
Interment will be at the Kerens Cemetery.
