"Cecil A. Ainsworth, age 84, of Lyndonville, Vt., died at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury, Vt., on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017.
Cecil was born in Greensboro, Vt., on May 17, 1933, son to the late Howard and Gladys (Bedell) Ainsworth. He was raised and educated in Danville, Vt., where he went to Danville High School and also St. Johnsbury Trade School. On June 28, 1952, he married Alice L. Bedor. They made their home on Pinehurst Street in Lyndonville 48 years ago and have lived there ever since. His working career spanned from Fairbanks Scales to Vemco Homes to French & Bean, but it was at North East Tool that he worked until his retirement in 1988.
Cecil enjoyed his John Deere tractors, carpentry, fishing and hunting, and taught his children to do the same. Over the past number of years he loved spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife: Alice of Lyndonville; a sister Betty Dukette from Hardwick, Vt., and Arizona; his daughter: Dianne Raymond and husband John Sr. of Lyndonville with grandchildren: John Raymond Jr. and wife Mariko, Jennifer Desrosier and husband, Roger and great-grandchild: Kurtis Cameron-Delaney; his son: David Ainsworth and wife, Diane, of Lyndonville, with grandchildren: Davey and Casey Ainsworth and great-grandchildren: Vance and Owen Ainsworth, Carson and Carter Colby; and also survived by his son: Duane Ainsworth and wife, Kathy, with grandchildren: Heather Tanner and husband, Dan, Heidi Hook and husband, Damian, Chris Ainsworth and wife, Hannah, and Kim Aussiker and husband, Ralph, with great-grandchildren: Tyler and Connor Tanner, Trenton and Garrett Ainsworth.
He is predeceased by brother Ronnie Ainsworth of Castleton, Vt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at St. Elizabeth’s Church on Hill Street in Lyndonville with Fr. Bernard Gaudreau officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
