Elsie M. Hazzard Ballas, age 77, of Monroe. Devoted wife of 54 years to Steven Ballas Sr., died Saturday, June 5, 2004. Born in New Haven, Elsie was a resident of Monroe since 1960. She was a former hairstylist, but her true calling was her ability to be a devoted wife, mother and grandma. She will be sadly missed by all. Survivors in addition to her husband, Steve; include a son, a daughter, 3 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Russell, Bob and Joe; and two sisters, Margaret and Florence. Friends are invited to attend her funeral services on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Calling hours are on Tuesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport (on the Trumbull line).
