Stella Ruth Stalnaker, 99, of Farmington, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Pierpont Center at Fairmont Campus. She was born May 30, 1919, at East Run, a daughter of the late Elias L. Criss and Belva Belle Toothman Criss.
Stella was employed as a bookkeeper in retail sale by Country Squire Southern States in Fairmont, the Farmington Hardware, and Gango’s Grocery. She loved to sit outside. She was a member of the Farmington Main Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her sons: Neil (Mary) Stalnaker of Fairmont and Ronald (Donna) Stalnaker of Vienna; grandchildren: Jennifer Grimenstein of PA and Mark Allen Stalnaker of CO; great grandchildren: Stella Ruth Stalnaker (her namesake) and June Corrina.
In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by her husband, Ersel Boyd Stalnaker, 3 brothers: Homer, Louis Criss, and Emery Criss, and 5 sisters: Ruby Priester, Minnie Criss, Helen Batson, Daisy Pearl Toothman, and Inez Pitzer.
Stella is the last surviving member of her family.
A Graveside service will be held at the IOOF Cemetery in Farmington at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2019.
