Arthur R. Geerdts, age 96, of 1213 S. 20th St., Manitowoc, died on Tuesday morning, Nov. 23, 2010, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.

Arthur was born to the late Arthur and Elsie (Milski) Geerdts on Nov. 25, 1913, in Manitowoc. He married Frances Rollins on July 5, 1941, in Dubuque, Iowa. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945. Arthur was a retired letter carrier with the United States Postal Service in 1977. He was a member of St. John's UCC, the American Legion, the Eagles and the Wisconsin Campers Association. Arthur was an avid bowler, Packers fan, University of Wisconsin football fan, as well as a Milwaukee Brewer fan. He also loved his wife, children and their families.

Arthur is survived by his wife: Frances, Manitowoc; his four children and their spouses: Susan and Roger Bennin, Manitowoc, Fredric Geerdts, Francis Creek, John R. and Vicki Geerdts, Manitowoc, Peggy and Ray Fuller, Manitowoc; eight grandchildren: Roger and Denise Bennin, Robert J. Bennin, Christee Schlore, Paula and Mike Thomas, Amanda and Josh Brandly, Melissa and Jason Schuette, Heather and Kenny Heller, and Adam Fuller; ten great-grandchildren; a special family friend: Patti Wallander, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive.

He was also preceded in death by a great-grandson: Dennis Franz; and two sisters and two brothers-in-law: Evelyn and Daniel Fierst, and Ruth and Floyd Greenwood.

Funeral services for Arthur will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at St. John's UCC, S. 15th St. and Marshall. Services will be lead by the Rev. Dr. James Klein. Burial will follow at Knollwood Cemetery, Hwy 310, Manitowoc.

Family will greet relatives and friends at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. Friends may also call Monday morning, at St. John's UCC from 10 to 11 a.m.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family would like to thank the staff at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, for their compassionate care given to their dad.
