Ray T. Grainger, 59, Manitowoc, WI, died unexpectedly early Tuesday morning, March 26, 2002, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.

Ray was born January 30, 1943, in Manitowoc, son of Kurth and Loraine Pilger Grainger. He attended local schools graduating from Lincoln High School in 1961 and graduated from Silver Lake College. He served with U.S. Army Special Forces in Vietnam. He enlisted April 6, 1964, and was honorably discharged March 7, 1968. Ray worked for 27 years for the Manitowoc Public Schools as a custodial supervisor at Lincoln High School. He was married on March 21, 1986, at Manitowoc. Ray was a member of First Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge of Green Bay and American Legion Drews-Bleser Post #88 of Manitowoc. He was a past commander of Post #88. Ray enjoyed golfing and camping.

Survivors include his wife: LueAnn of Manitowoc; his parents: Capt. Kurth and Loraine Grainger of Manitowoc; one son: Richard Grainger and his finacee, Jaimee Khail of Manitowoc; and grandson: Cameron Rey; one daughter and son-in-law: Linda and Frank Ramos of Long Island, N.Y.; and granddaughters: Brittney and Alicia; and grandson: Nicholas; three stepchildren: Dawn and Abraham Gilliam, Green Bay; and granddaughters: Abbey and Hailey Capelle; Darin and Pixie DeGrand, Green Bay; Dennis DeGrand, Green Bay; one brother: Kurth E. Grainger and fiancee Donna Spaeth of Two Rivers; one sister and brother-in-law: Bonnie and Roger Hansen of Manitowoc; special friends: Pat and Karen Cavanaugh, Manitowoc; Randy and Karen Nelson, Manitowoc; Dennis and Marcia Svatek, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. Ray was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, March 30, 2002, at First Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Burial of his cremated remains will be at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Township of Kossuth.
