Mrs. Henry Charles Hempel, 72, wife of the president of Heresite and Chemical Co., Manitowoc, died early Friday morning at Columbia Hospital, Milwaukee, where she had been a patient since Dec. 19. The family home is at 857 N. Fifth St., Manitowoc.

Mrs. Hempel, nee Marie Kaesekamp, was born May 20, 1893, at Leipzig, Germany, daughter of the late Adolph and Emilie Schneidewing Kaesekamp. She attended Leipzig schools and was married Aug. 10, 1914, to Mr. Hempel at St. Emmaus Evangelical Lutheran Church, Leipzig. The couple lived in Germany until 1930 when Hempel was transferred by his firm, the United Glanztoff Corp., to North American Rayon Corp. at Elizabethton, Tenn., to supervise the installation of a metal treating department. After completion of this work they moved to Manitowoc in 1932. The couple observed its golden wedding anniversary in August, 1964.

Surviving are the husband, a daughter, Mrs. Ira L. (Gerda) Place, of Manitowoc and a granddaughter, Sandra Place a student at Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill.

Funeral arrangements will be announced Saturday by Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc.
