FERNANDO V. MARTINEZ was born July 2, 1927 and left this earth to be with his Lord on June 12, 2007. He was born in Blewitt, Texas to Catarino G. and Maria del Refugio Vasquez Martinez. Upon graduating from Uvalde High School in May 1945, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. After being Honorably Discharged as a Corporal in 1947, he achieved his goal to attend Texas A & M University and graduated in 1951 with a BS in Civil Engineering. A Veteran of the Korean War, Fernando was also a former President of Club Mexico Bello in Houston, a registered Professional Engineer in both Civil and Mechanical Engineering, and a retiree of Exxon-Mobil. He derived much satisfaction from his family and grandchildren. A proud Aggie, Husband, Father, Soldier and Veteran, he was loved and will be missed by all whose lives he touched. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Dora G. Martinez, his children, son Fernando G. Martinez and wife Kathy, daughter Karen M. Solano and husband Javier, and son Edward A. Martinez; his brother Heliodoro (Lio) Martinez, and sisters Ofelia Martinez, Toya Rodriguez, Dora Granado and Maria Cunningham; his grandchildren, Scott Martinez, Javier Solano, Jr. and Gabriel Solano. Interment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
