RITES AT PASADENA FOR MRS. J.J.E. BYRAM
Memorial services were held Dec. 18, at Pasadena, Cal., for Mrs. J.E. Byram, former resident of Abingdon and mother of Mrs. Arlene Meadows of Abingdon, her death having occurred Dec. 16.
The services were held at the Turner and Stevens chapel. Appropriate passages of scripture and songs brought comfort to the bereaved. The many beautiful floral offerings bore evidence of the high esteem in which Mrs. Byram was held. Burial was in the Mountain View Mausoleum at Pasadena.
Dora Lincoln was born near Avon, Ill., Jan. 31, 1859. She married J.E. Byram Oct. 13,1861, and to this union were born seven children. Two sons, Leroy and Joe, preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Earl Byram, of [text unreadable], Cal., and four daughters, Mrs. Lera B. Skelton of Pasadena, Mrs. Lena B. Meadows of Abingdon, Mrs. Flossie B. Coddington and Fern M. Byram of Pasadena, Cal., all of whom were present at the memorial services for her. Other relatives are 11 grandchildren, two sisters, Misses Myrtle and Emma Lincoln, of Pasadena, Cal., and one brother, Edwin Lincoln, of Kansas City, Mo.
With her husband and family she lived on a farm near Abingdon until Mr. Byram's retirement, when they moved to California, [four words unreadable.]
Mrs. Byram early in life accepted the Christian faith, and continued steadfast in her belief, rejoicing in the fellowship with church friends.
Oct. 13, 1939, Mr. and Mrs. Byram celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in a quiet manner, with the family present.
