(1881 - 1945)

Ernst Schwantes, 63, route 2, Two Rivers, died this noon at the Two Rivers Municipal hospital where he had been a patient for several months.

Mr. Schwantes fell out of an apple tree last fall on the farm of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Meissner, in Shoto. He has been confined to the hospital since that time.

He was born in 1881 in the town of Two Rivers. In 1909 he was married to Rose Krause of Kossuth and the couple settled on a farm in the town of Two Rivers.

He is survived by his widow; three daughters, Mrs. William Meissner, route 2, Two Rivers, Miss Rose Marie, at home, and Mrs. Kenneth Brunner, Two Rivers; four sons, Ernst Jr., route 2, Two Rivers. Pvt. Norman, Fort Riley, Kan., and Paul and Peter at home; one sister, Mrs. Peter Schwantes, Two Rivers; one brother, William, of Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Rockwood Lutheran church, the Rev. Edward Zell officiating. The body may be viewed at the Klein and Stangel Inc. funeral home in Two Rivers from Sunday evening until time of services.
