Joseph M. Swaim, aged 61, died here at 12 o'clock last night at the home of his sister, Mrs. J. W. Atkinson, of an aneurysm of the heart after several months illness. He had mining interests at Birmingham, and large farming interests at Guntersville, Alabama. The deceased was a Mason, and will be buried with Masonic rites.
He was the son of the late Captain M. M. Swaim of Holt's Corner, Marshall county. He is survived by his step-mother, Mrs. Laura Swaim, of Aliceville, Ala.. and the following brothers and sisters: James M. Swain, Chapel Hill, Marshall county; Mrs. Wyley Morris, Lewisburg; Mrs. J. W. Atkinson, Centerville; Mrs. John H. Womack, Holt's Corner; Charles H. Swaim, Macon, GA; Mrs. John H. Colsher, Alexandria, LA.; Samuel Swaim, Mrs. Marion Reed, Eugene Swaim, Aliceville, Ala.; Ernest Swaim, Childress, TX; Miss Eddie Swaim, Lewisburg, Tn.
His remains will be conveyed to the family home at Holt's Corner for interment.
