Viana Elizabeth “Betty” Baker Truesdell, born November 9, 1926, died May 17, 2017, in Iowa City, Iowa. She was born in Licking, Missouri, but lived most of her life in Anamosa, the community she loved and the place she considered home. One source of pride was that all of her children graduated from the Anamosa schools. She was known and loved by many for her generosity, kindness and concern for others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Enos Nehri Baker and Savannah Self Baker; her husband, Arlo Kent Truesdell; her son Kenneth Arlo Truesdell; her grandson, James Alan Miell; and her 12 brothers.
She is survived by her children: Pat (Jose) Venegas, Duane Truesdell, Larry Truesdell, Debra (Dennis) Kolberg, Jan Powers, Jo (Mike) Josephson, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Later in life, she dedicated her life to Jesus Christ, and was buried with Him in baptism on August 23, 2015, by her son Duane and Pastor David. She loved reading the Bible and singing hymns in part because they brought her back to her childhood upbringing as a preacher’s daughter.
