Dolores moved from Ranger to Denver City, Texas in 1939 where she attended Denver City schools until she graduated in May 1948. She was united in marriage to Ed Gayle on May 18, 1948 in Denver City, Texas. In June of 1950, Ed and Dolores put in Gayle’s Jewelry and ran it till they retired in 1994. In 2003, they moved to Dexter, Missouri, where they were members of the First Baptist Church. Dolores was also a member of Church Women United, Heartland Quilters Guild and The Golden Age Club.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Howard and DeVonna Gayle of Eastland Texas; by one daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Jay Lemons of Dexter, Missouri; by four grandchildren, Chawnda Branscome, Dustin Patterson, Joshua Gayle and Kristyn Hartmann; by six great-grandchildren, Logan Gatlin, Skye Patterson, Madilyn Patterson, Mark Gayle, Brendon Gayle and Audrey Gayle; by one great-great-granddaughter Macie Grace Gatlin and by one sister Bessie Causey of Snyder, Texas.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ed in 2011; by her son Mark Gayle in 1982 and by her sister, Annie Pearl O’Keeffe.
Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. with Wendell Minson and Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Denver City Memorial Cemetery in Denver City, Texas.
