Joe Dady, a well-known musician in the region, died on Saturday at the age of 61. He was born and raised in Rochester. Joe passed away on Saturday night at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was diagnosed with leukemia in October 2018.
He and his brother John performed together as the Dady brothers, logging in 7,000 performances over 45 years. Their Irish heritage influenced much of their music. He was a talented musician in which he played the fiddle, banjo, uillean pipes and the tin whistle.
For years they hosted trips to to Ireland. The Dady Brothers were known for their Irish music and Joe was a widely sought-out music teacher and mentor to countless musicians over the years.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
