Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Fields Faulkner Bishop, 76, of Wilmington, NC passed away on Tuesday, May 14 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

Born August 6,1942 in Kenly, NC, Beth was a daughter of the late Mary Cardell Fields and Arthur F. Fields. She was a graduate of Manteo High School in Manteo, NC and Norfolk Business College in Norfolk, Virginia. After college, Beth worked with King’s Daughter’s Children’s Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, with Fiber Industries in Salisbury, NC and as a flight attendant with Piedmont Airlines.

She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ. Beth loved to travel, was an avid reader and had a particular interest and knowledge in history. Most notably, she leaves behind sons, daughters-in-law, cousins, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends; hundreds of people whose lives were enlightened by her. Beth constantly poured herself into other people and treated everyone with love, grace and compassion.

In addition to her parents, Beth was preceded in death by her husband Sgt. James Thomas Faulkner of New Bern.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Andrew H. Bishop and wife Barbara of Wilmington, NC, Eric F. Bishop and wife Heather of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Jeffrey C. Bishop of Charleston, SC, three grandsons Cole, Quinn and Cooper Bishop. We miss her dearly.

A memorial service will be held at Pollock-Best Funeral Home, 2015 Neuse Boulevard, New Bern, NC at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 23, 2019 with burial service at the New Bern National Cemetery at 11:00 am.
