Age 85 of Durand passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Pleasant View surrounded by his loving family.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 AM, Thursday, May 23, 2019 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Corunna. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2pm to 8pm with a rosary at 7pm on Wednesday.
Gerald was the son of Edward and Elizabeth (Schaner) Hebekeuser born in Owosso, MI on January 19, 1934. Gerald married Barbara Chavey at St. Paul Catholic Church on November 24, 1956; she predeceased him on June 1, 2017 Gerald was a plaster contractor and was also owner of Fay's Motel in Grayling. He attended St. Paul Catholic Schools and was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Owosso and the Grayling Chamber of Commerce. He served as an usher at both St. Paul in Owosso and St. Mary in Grayling. Gerald served six years in the Michigan National Guard. Gerald is survived by his children, Jerry (Nell Ann) Hebekeuser, Jr., Paul (Jacqueline) Hebekeuser, Lori (Chris) Yanik, John Hebekeuser, Lee (Shelly) Hebekeuser, Tena (Troy) Moiles, Nick (Gretchen) Hebekeuser; grandchildren, Juston, Brandon, Kadon, Amy, Marci, Logan, Ryan, Kristen, Adam, Levi, Brennyn, Raegan, Nolan, Sheldyn, Andrew, Luke, Taylor, Annie and Zachary; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Edward (Mary) Hebekeuser; sisters, Patricia Teichman and Rita (John) Stehlik; sister-in-law Sharon (Floyd) Rundell, Edwin (Rosie) Chavey; nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara; parents; brothers, Robert and James; daughter-in-law Kellie Hebekeuser; Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Vincent DePaul or the Shiawassee Council on Aging.
