Bergen - Mr. Alton M. Arnold, 89, of Bergen, machine designer for Bausch and Lomb in Rochester, died Monday, July 14, 2008 at the Bridges of Mendon.
Mr. Arnold was born April 2, 1919 in Bergen, the son of the late Charles and Laura Spooner Arnold.
Mr. Arnold was a graduate of Clarkson College and he worked for Bausch and Lomb for 38 years. A member of Stone Church Presbyterian Church, Mr. Arnold was the organist of the church for many years and also taught Sunday school. He was a member of the session and served as Clerk of the session for 25 years. He was a member of the Rochester Theater Organ Society and Holland Purchase Historical Society.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Kirtland Arnold; a son, Marvin (Irene) Arnold of Morrisville; two daughters, Anne (Ken) Heale of Arcade and Deborah (Gene) Godlove of Bergen; two sisters, Jean Hider of Rochester and Elizabeth (Robert) Long of Bergen; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
There are no prior calling hours. His services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Stone Church Presbyterian Church, 7549 South Lake Road, Bergen. Burial will be in Stone Church Cemetery, Bergen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Living Stones Fund at Stone Church Presbyterian Church, 7549 South Lake Road, Bergen, New York 14416.
