Her husband of 53 years, Dr. Vern Gilbert Nomady, a Naval Academy graduate of class 1953, received his masters degree from Carnegie Mellon and PHD from Catholic University. He predeceased her.
Mary Ann was an only child. She graduated from DePauw University with a Bachelors Degree in Music. She was a wonderful pianist, organist and choir director. She played at the Naval Academy Chapel and Naval Station Chapel, in Annapolis, Maryland for many years. She repeatedly performed at Constitution Hall, Daughters of the American Revolution, Washington D.C., with both Republican and Democrat presidents and vice-presidents in attendance. She was instrumental in securing a donation of a large collection of antique fans to the Vincennes Daughters of the American Revolution, the exhibition of which is the basis for their annual fundraiser. She also performed at Washington Cathedral in Washington, D.C.. Mary Ann was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Vincennes and the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century in Terre Haute. While at DePauw University, she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. Mary Ann was a former member of the Gosport Fortnightly Club, Gosport Museum and she even received the 2013 Owen County Preservation Award for renovation of her Spencer Residence.
As a Navy wife, moving to many bases, she played and directed choirs for several churches. She was the pianist and choir director of the Gosport Methodist Church and pianist for the Spencer Presbyterian Church for several years.
She is survived by her only child, Richard W. (Lisa) Norman of Spencer, and her three grandchildren, Caitlin (Zach Ashton), Kendal, and Kirsten.
