Walter F. Kappelmann, age 94, of 1308 Washington St., Two Rivers, died
Wednesday morning, May 9, 2001 at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.
Walter was born on May 29, 1906, in Two Rivers, son of the late Herman
and Augusta Migawa Kappelmann. He attended grade school and high school
in Two Rivers. From 1929 to 1939 he operated a tavern in the Wisconsin
House, which his father built. From 1939 to 1972, he owned an operated
Cool City Cleaners in Two Rivers. He was a past president of the
Mercedes Benz Club, past member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of
Two Rivers and a life member of the Two Rivers, Elks Lodge #1380. On
June 19, 1935, he married the former L. Gertrude Schroeder in Two
Rivers. She preceded him in death on Oct. 2, 1991.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John and Lynn Kappelmann of
Two Rivers; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Horst Portenheimer of
Vero Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren, Cheryl Kappelmann, Caryn
Kappelmann, Kevin (Kate) Olopp, Brian (Brenda) Olopp, Gretchen (Steve)
Britt, and Kristen Doyle; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Caroline
Christensen of Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 2 to3 p.m. on Saturday,
May 12, 2001, at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers.
In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated to the Aurora Medical
Center Hospice.
