Rebecca Anne Hampton Abelita, 69, of Galesburg, died at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2019 in Marigold Health Care Center.

She was born February 14, 1950, in Galesburg, the daughter of Robert L. and Shirlee J. (Swanson) Hampton Sr.

She is survived by a son, Brian W. (Christie) Hampton of Waterloo, Iowa; four grandchildren, Amanda Marie Hampton and Sarah Hampton, both of Sumner, Iowa, Elysa Hampton of Waterloo, Iowa, and Brian Hampton Jr. of Britt, Iowa; a sister, Julie (Tim) Hampton Purl; and a brother, Robert L. (Rhonda) Hampton Jr. of Naples, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents.

After high school, Becky graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a bachelor’s degree and from Northern Illinois University with a master’s degree in Community Health Care Nursing. She was a registered nurse. She was also a professor of nursing, teaching at Spoon River Community College in Canton and Miles City Community College in Miles City, Montana. Becky was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed gardening, handwork, reading, and her dog, Benson.

Cremation will be accorded. Her remains will be buried with her parents at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2019 in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Compassus.
