He was born June 12, 1926 in Chicago, son of Frank and Helen Bedoe Abfalder. He married Gwendolyn "Gwen" Brewer on February 25, 1950.
Surviving are his wife of Bloomington; three children, Mike Abfalder and Gary (fiance Lisa Stevenson Harris) Abfalder, both of Normal and Patty (Joey Franks) Abfalder of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Tara (Corey) Purdy, Joey Abfalder and Andrea (Derek) Smith and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Delores Richardson of Bloomington, Theresa Donaldson of Normal and Helen Krol of Chicago and one brother, Fred Szabados of Normal.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie Handley and three sisters.
He was a United States Navy Veteran, serving on the USS Midway.
Frank worked as a bricklayer, first for J.L. Wroan and later for Otto Baum, retiring in 1989. He was a lifetime member of the Bloomington Elks Lodge #281. He also enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife, gardening and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
