Artist. He was a member of the Bloomsbury group, founder of the Omega Workshop and Slade professor of Art at Cambridge University. While studying for a Natural Sciences degree at Cambridge, he developed an interest in art, rather to his family's regret. In 1896 he married the artist Helen Coombe, who developed a mental illness, leaving Fry to look after their two children. Fry organized the first exhibition for the Post-Impressionists in London in 1910. He started an affair with Vanessa Bell, and when she left him, he was heartbroken. Only in 1924 he found happiness with Helen Anrep, a former wife of the Russian-born mosaicist, Boris Anrep. Helen became a great support to Fry in his career, and lived with him until his death. His ashes were placed in the vault of Kings College Chapel, Cambridge, in a casket decorated by Vanessa Bell.
