Alberta A. Ewart, age 101 died Friday June 15th 2007 in Greenup where she lived her whole life.

For 62 years she lived in the same house and her front porch was visited by everyone. Mrs. Ewart attended Millikin and became a beloved 2nd grade teacher at Cumberland Elementary.

She married Herman O. Ewart on August 9th 1925 and together they raised two sons, Howard and James. Mrs. Ewart was a very active member of the Greenup Presbyterian church, the Women's Civic Club, Eastern Star and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

For decades, she collected hundreds of eyeglasses for the needy and soup labels for Kemmerer Village, a children's home. She loved all kinds of needle work, sewing and quilting.

Mrs. Ewart was a special grandmother to six, great-grandmother to eight and aunt Alberta to many. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be Tuesday June 19th 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday June 20th 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church in Greenup with burial in the Greenup cemetery.
