NORMA L ALONSO

Norma L. Alonso, 97, of rural Kiel and formerly of Milwaukee, died Monday morning, April 8, 1996 at Willowdale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein, where she resided the past six years.

She is the former Norma Drake, born Feb. 17, 1899 in the town of Schleswig, daughter of the late Herman and Anna Voigt Drake. She was a 1917 graduate of Kiel High School. On October 11, 1969 she married Alfred Alonso in Milwaukee. She was employed at Georgia Pacific in Milwaukee and then at Goodwill Industries. Her husband, Alfred preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 1982. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Louis Corners.

Survivors include one brother, Helmuth (Dora) Drake of rural Elkhart Lake; one sister, Arvilla Lenz of Kiel; nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
Funeral services were held at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, with the Rev. James Bartz, pastor of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
