He was born on June 7, 1940, in the Town of Greenville, the son of the late Louis and Velma (Lemke) Buman. He attended Hortonville High School, graduating class of 1958. On April 16, 1966, he was united in marriage to Nancy Holz, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in rural Black Creek. Shortly after high school, he enlisted with the National Guard, based out of Appleton, and was discharged honorably. During his earthly life here, Jerry was employed by Reliance Construction Company and Northeast Asphalt, also working for the Town of Meeme during his retirement. He was a member at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Louis Corners (Kiel), where he served on the church council, the building and repair committee, was a member of the Men's Club, and was always a reliable stand in for ushering duties. After retirement, he enjoyed coffee at Mc Donald's and breakfast at Riverview Restaurant with "the boys", but most enjoyed spending time with his family at home, in the comfort of his recliner.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Nancy. He is also survived by his two daughters, Lynn (Benjamin) Wessel of West Allis, and Stacy (Scott) Schweitzer of Kiel, and his two granddaughters, whom he thought the world of, Cassandra and Jenna Schweitzer. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters – Russell (Joan) Buman, Greenville, Louise "Toots" Zastrow and special friend Don, Howards Grove, Donald "Butch" Buman, Stanley "Pete" Buman, Donna (Harry) VandenBusch, all of Greenville, and Dennis (Rachel) Buman, Winchester; sisters and brothers-in-law – Ann Buman, Greenville, Sandra (Richard) Conover, Waupaca, and Daniel (Linda) Holz, West Des Moines, IA; as well as many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Harry and Dorothy (Schroeder) Holz, as well as his sister, Barbara Piechocki, and brother, Eugene "Huck" Buman, and brother-in-law, Richard Zastrow, and sister-in-law, Marilyn "Molly" Buman.
Services celebrating Jerry's sure hope of heaven will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 10:30 am at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 19214 County XX, Kiel (Louis Corners), with Pastor Theodore Olsen, officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
