Once more we are called upon to record the death of our brother, John W. Rutledge, who died of heart failure, April 8, 1905, aged 57 years.
Deceased was born in Bledsoe county, Tennessee, April 8, 1848, came to this county while still small, professed religion at the age of 19, and united with the Missionary Paptist church at Keysville, was married to Mary Ann LaRue, March 1, 1868, to which union were born 5 children; 3 sons and 2 daughters all of whom are living He had been in poor health for several years but was able to work most of the time; He went to bed at night feeling well as common except headache, was up at 2 am complained still of headache, but went back to bed and was supposed to be sleeping but was found at 4:00 am dead. He was buried at the Pinto cemetery near Cook Station, on the 9th, amidst a large concourse of weeping relatives and friends. May you rest in peace dear brother.
