HENRY GUTSCHOW

Henry Gutschow, 79, of School Hill, a retired Town of Meeme farmer and former director of the St. Nazianz State Bank, died Tuesday afternoon at Manitowoc Memorial Hospital after an illness of four months.
Born Jan. 18, 1882, in Germany, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Gutschow. At the age of three, he came with his parents to the United States, settling in the Town of Meeme.

He attended the district school there and was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Louis Corners. On May 5, 1908, he married Miss Emma Goetsch of the Town of Meeme and they settled on a farm now operated by their son Norman.
Mr. Gutschow retired from farming in 1938 but continued to live in the township.

He and his wife celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1958. He was a director of the St. Nazianz bank from 1946 to 1960 and for many years was a director of the School Hill Cheese Co.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at Louis Corners.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Gilbert and Norman Gutschow, both of rural Kiel; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Zion Church with the Rev. E. G. Behm, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kiel, officiating in the absence of the Rev. William Hartwig, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
