WALTER HANSMANN

Walter Hansmann, 83, a former town of Schleswig resident, died Wednesday at Willowdale Nursing Home, New Holstein, where he had resided the past five weeks.

He was born Aug. 3, 1990, in the town of Schleswig (Manitowoc County), a son of the late Christian and Helen Voss Hansmann. He attended school in the Town of Schleswig. On June 24, 1912, he and Edna Barts were married at Trinity Lutheran Church, Howards Grove. They farmed in the town of Herman until moving to the homestead farm in the Town of Schleswig in 1928.

Mr. Hansmann was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at Louis Corners, its Men's Club and was a former elder of the church. He was also a former member of the Maple Corners School Board and formerly served as a Town of Schleswig supervisor.

Surviving are his wife; four sons, Dr. Willard Hansmann of St. Cloud, Monroe of New Holstein, Dr. Elroy of Menasha and Walter, Jr., New Holstein: 14 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Oscar Neumann of rural Kiel; and one brother, Theodore, rural Plymouth. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren and three brothers.

Funeral service will be at Zion Lutheran Church, Louis Corners, with the Rev. Adalbert Schultz, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
