Freida Baker Waller, 64, of Benton passed away at Marshall County Hospital on May 28th, 2019, in the company of family. She was born to George and Clarice (Sullivan) Baker in Glasgow, KY on Sept. 7th, 1954. Raised in Glasgow, she graduated from Glasgow High School and then attended Murray State University, where she earned a degree in Mathematics and met her husband, Charles. After graduation, she worked as an Outside Plant Engineer at Bell South in Louisville, KY. After fifteen years of engineering, she became a mother and then supported her family by managing their home and the small businesses she and her husband started, until they retired from small business ownership in 2016.

She was a steadfast wife, who shared ambitions, adventures, and parenthood with her husband, to whom she was married 44 years. Together they traveled both in and out of the country, and explored the places they found through hot air ballooning, white water rafting, and scuba diving.

In 1990 and 1994 she gave birth to her much wanted daughters, Sarah and Rachel, and raised them in the values she prized: resilience, independence, and education. She was an avid cyclist, an accomplished painter, and a creative seamstress, and she loved sharing her hobbies with her children, nurturing a love of the arts, the outdoors, and the written word in them. Through both action and advice, she taught them what strength, love, and integrity meant every day.

A woman of faith, she was an energetic church member, and ministered in countless ways both in and out of the church. Her faith was her rock, through good times and bad.

She was equal parts a caregiver, happily becoming a mother to more than just her own children, and a fighter, inspiring others with her tenacity through her fight with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Baker and Clarice Baker. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Charles Waller; two daughters, Sarah Waller and Rachel Waller; and two sisters, Judy Wade (Gregory) and Nancy Kiper.

A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Christian Fellowship Church with Rev. Richie Clendenen officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 31, 2019, Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY.
