He was born on October 26,1927 to Joseph Harris Salter and Minnie Lee Salter on a small farm in a rural area of Oconee, Washington County, Georgia. When he grew up he worked as a logger. He also pick cotton and worked in the cotton mill.
In 1950, Thomas decided to moved his wife and children to FL. He became a block mason working 8 hours a day, five days a week in the hot sun providing for his family.
He loved gardening, hunting, fishing, and animals. Thomas also loved singing, playing the guitar. He loved listening to blue grass music. One of his favorite hymens that he loved to sing in church was The Old Rugged Cross. His favorite bible verse was Psalms 23:4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
Thomas is preceded in death by his wife Annie Mary Salter,
2 daughters Janice Jackson, Mary Jane Salter, and 1 Grandson's Donnie Johnson,
1 Great Grandson Clarence Lloyd White, 2 son in law's Lee Radke and James L Jackson
His parent's Joseph Salter, Minnie Salter. His sibling's Ozzie Salter, Mary Kleckner, Willie Mae Hartley, Emma Bates, Clyde Salter, and Ray Salter. 3, Nephews 1, Niece
