Louisa Jane Book was born to Lillian Fluitt and Wesley Book. Lillian, her mother, died when Louisa Jane was still a child. Her father, Wesley Book, brought she and her siblings to her grandfather who was already in his 70s, and asked him to raise his children. He never had anything to do with his children again. Louisa married Frank Courtney in 1909 and Wesley Holland about 1918. She married John A. Elender in Louisiana during 1924 and she had a son, George James "Robert" Elender in 1925. John, for unknown reason, did not believe the son to be his. There may have been a previous marriage, but he did not want to raise Robert, so John Elender left Louisa. She then married J. A. Walker in 1926 in Laredo, Texas (not to be confused with Glenn Walker as some do); her son took the name of his step-father, Robert Elender Walker. Louisa died in 1970 of heart failure and George James Elender was the informant on her death certificate, for Louisa was, at that time, a widow. This means that J. A. Walker had already died, and her son was there with her. The death certificate states Louisa Jane Book Walker was buried in the Catholic Cemetery in Webb County. Her grave may have lost its marker, but she is buried here perhaps beside her husband, J. A. Walker.
