Arty William "Billy" Austin, 90, of 118 Dialrock Road formerly of Coalwood and Princeton died Monday, September 18, 2006 at the Tazewell Community Hospital Born July 27, 1916 at Coalwood, he was the son of the late Andrew William "Bill" Austin and Mary Jennette "Nettie" Kennedy Austin.
Arty was a retired electrician last working for Olga Coal Company in Coalwood. He was a member of UMWA. He graduated from the Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, IL and he was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Mae Bailey Austin on December 6, 2002, Brothers, Ercell "Pete", Arvil Jack and Ray Austin, Sisters, Betty Richards, Margaret and Hazel Austin, Step Sister, Dorothy Coe, Step Brother, Kenneth Shutt, a niece Charlotte Davis, and his step Mother, Hattie Shutt Austin. Survivors: Sister, Helen Jane Williamson of North Tazewell, VA; Step Sisters Vivian Larue of Princeton, Margaret Whitt of Roanoke, VA; Caregivers Kay Austin Linda Barrett Connie Pierce, and Several Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 11:00 AM from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Don Elswick and Pastor Buster Kestner officiating. Entombment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Friends may call today from 6 to 9 P.M.
